Whirlowbrook Hall Wedding
Whirlowbrook Hall, just outside of Sheffield City centre is one of those hidden little venue’s which is such a gem of a place. With huge, gorgeous gardens and woodland to explore, it’s a photographers dream and the perfect venue for super chilled weddings with a bit of adventure thrown in.
So when Even and Ruth contacted me all the way from Norway to chat to me about their completely chilled and carefree wedding, with a mix of Yorkshire and Norwegian culture, excited didn't even begin to describe how I felt. I have literally loved these two since day one of meeting for a hilarious couples shoot in Kelham Island. I mean they sent me Norwegian chocolate in the post so my heart was won straight away haha
Love At First Sight
Meeting at Manchester University during their study days, marking the start of a movie worthy love story (seriously guys get your story sold) it was clear that their main priority for their big day was to have everyone who helped shape and make their amazing story be there to celebrate their wonderful day. Complete with hilarious stories, embarrassing childhood photos, and a mix of both true Yorkshire and Norwegian traditions the day was definitely one to remember. Plus the traditional kransekake tasted bloody awesome.
Breaking all the rules
The wedding was a real intimate, family affair where both Even and Ruth weren't afraid to step away from traditions and rules in order to add their own spin on the day. With a first look right before the ceremony Even got to see his beautiful bride right before walking her down the aisle himself ready to say I Do. Something that is done quite a lot over in the U.S. but is only just starting to make an appearance here in the U.K. It’s such a lovely little touch giving you a chance to reduce those wedding day jitters and perfect for photo ops of your fiancé seeing you for the first time in your dress.
I've captured weddings at this beautiful venue twice this year and I really do hope there will be many more over the coming years because I think it's safe to say that Whirlowbrook has fast become one of my favourite venues.
